Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition Vapor-xWhen we firstly wrote about AMD’s referent card Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition, our only remark was that it gives out too much noise with the manufacturers fan. It was just a question of time when their partners are going to put on the market their own models that don’t follow the referent design.

As expected, Sapphire was the first to come out, putting on the market their version of Vapor-X. Except for the most impressive “vapor-chamber” cooler, that the company has implemented on any card so far, this Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition uses a fully redesigned PCB, in accordance to the referent card. Sapphire Radeon HDUntil now we are used to the fact that after a couple of months after nVidia and AMD launch their new referent cards, we will get their improved models by the other companies. This goes a bit slower for the high end cards and faster for the low end ones.  We are reviewing three of these cards that have been improved by Sapphire. With their non-standard design of the PCB and power units these cards are able to spread their wings and show their real potential of their GCN architecture and 28nm production method.  Read more of this post
