The Clash Of The Middle Class – part 4 – Palit GeForce GTX 650 Ti 1GB and 2GB Version

Palit GeForce GTX 650 Ti 1GB and 2GB VersionFor the test we have chosen 2 GPU’s by Palit that are identical to each other, with the only difference being the dedicated RAM memory provided. Palit’s GPU’s look a lot simpler than the Asus GPU. Firstly, the cooler has the same dimensions as the board, so its overall size is almost half than the DirectCU II. The plastic cover hides only one fan that belongs to the TurboFan Blade family, which has a bigger cooling capability than a regular fan and produces less noise. Underneath it has a simple aluminum body that has a lot of ribs. The lack of heatpipes, copper parts and any other advanced tech is more than obvious. Read more of this post

The Clash Of The Middle Class – Part 2

NVidia vs AMDThe first three models that we are reviewing are coming from NVidia and their subsidiaries and hold the GK 106 chip. As it seems, this chip is a much stronger competitor than anticipated.

As all the rest GPU’s in this generation, the GK 106 is made in 28nm manufacturing process and it is based on Kepler architecture. This new chip on a hardware level supports all the latest standards: DirectX 11, Shader Model 5.0, OpenGL 4.2 and technologies directly connected to nVidia’s chips as: PhysX, 3D Vision, PureVideo HD, Cuda etc. Read more of this post

The Clash Of The Middle Class – Part 1

NVidia vs AMDIn this and the following few texts we have decided to present you with a GPU comparison that would be interesting for the common users, the ones that want enough power to play the latest games, but don’t have enough money to spend on a high end GPU.

As a comparison we are reviewing the newest model from NVidia- in the midrange, the GTX 650 TI and the Radeon 7770 and the subversions made by different companies. Read more of this post

Epson EH-TW9000W – Almost Perfect Projector

Epson EH-TW9000WWe have seen some great projectors that will cost you an arm and a leg, but this time it is not so. Ok, it is not that cheap, it costs about £3000, but that is a mediocre price for this market, especially for a projector that offers an almost perfect picture. Epson hit the mark with this one and we would recommend it to someone that can afford it, because it leaves the competitors in the dust.

The projector works on an LCD matrix instead of the DLP. Most of the time this means that it will have problems with the blacks, but not this time. Read more of this post

NVidia 6xx – One Step Forward Three Steps Back

NVidia 6xx Half a year has passed and we can conclude that NVidia has introduced only one new processor. May be it is one, but it is the GK104. This is pretty bad, especially for a company that is striving to keep the leadership position on the market. As the second part of the year has come to pass, we got another processor based on the architecture Kepler, but this one is made for the lower end of the market and it is named GK107. When we say the lower end, we think about the most interesting part of the market, where the graphic card has a price of about 100 Euro. Read more of this post

HP TouchSmart 520 – At The Tip Of Your Fingers

HP TouchSmart 520We have already reviewed HP’s Omni27, all-in-one PC. Even though we were pretty happy with it, we have noticed some flaws one of which was that it lacked a touch screen.  Anyway a 27 incher is uncomfortable to use in a multi-touch surrounding so this version with its 23 inch is a much better choice.

TouchSmart 520 with its concept doesn’t differ much than the Omni27. The main difference is the touch screen. It has a standard resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. The color reproduction is natural and well set from the start. The screen manufacturer is not listed but according to the view angles it should be an IPS matrix screen with a LED backlit. Gigabyte Geforce GTX 670 2GB GDDR5 – Imperfect Is The Better Choice

Gigabyte Geforce GTX 670 2GB GDDR5When introducing every new GPU generation traditionally we go through a repetition of the grade, when talking about the basics of the business philosophy of the whole industry, which means that with the process of “harvesting” you need to use as much as you can from the manufactured chips. This process is crucial for keeping a commercial success when dealing with GPU’s, which have amazing number of transistors implemented inside- between 3.5 and 4.5 billion. Read more of this post

7970 GHz Edition – Trying To Get Back On Top

7970 GHz EditionWe all know the cutthroat race between the two main GPU manufacturers the NVidia and AMD. It has been a never-ending race of who can make the best GPU or who will have the best performance/ price ratio. This time we are talking about the giants battling between each other with their best fighters, their top dogs. With the introduction of NVidia’s GeForce 680 GTX version, AMD fell a bit behind in the performance margin and now they are trying to fight back with their new revision of the 7970 GPU, conveniently called the 7970 GHz Edition. Origin Eon 17S – Another Laptop That Pushes The Limits

Origin Eon 17SOrigin has been making top of the line laptops for a while and now they have made a laptop that is pushing the limits of how strong a laptop can be. The company even gives the option of customizing your own backslide, adding everything from design options, to a choice of color and final coting. Even though you can make your own impression on the backside, the rest of the laptop has a more classical inside style.

The overall dimensions of the laptop of 16.2x 10.9x 1.7- 1.8 are making the laptop be pretty chunky, but the overall weight of 8.2 pounds or 3.7 kg, makes this laptop quite lighter than the competition. Read more of this post

Google Nexus 7Google has introduced their new tablet branded as Google Nexus 7 but it was made by Asus. This is first tablet that holds the Google name and their logo. It was introduced on Google’s I/O conference this week and it is going to shake the competition, not with its awesome power or capabilities, but with the price/hardware ratio. Read more of this post

iBuyPowerSometimes even boutique vendors know how to surprise their customers announcing some systems made by them that achieve great results, or are just much better than the big time suppliers. Acer Timeline Ultra5Acer maybe staying behind the main competitors with their production of high quality products, or being ahead with sales, but they are pushing forward and now they are trying to beat the competition. Firstly, they offered these notebooks only on the Asian market, but now they are making their offer worldwide. Read more of this post

Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 OC, HD 7950 OC, HD 7970 OC – A Fight For The Throne

Sapphire Radeon HDUntil now we are used to the fact that after a couple of months after nVidia and AMD launch their new referent cards, we will get their improved models by the other companies. This goes a bit slower for the high end cards and faster for the low end ones.  We are reviewing three of these cards that have been improved by Sapphire. With their non-standard design of the PCB and power units these cards are able to spread their wings and show their real potential of their GCN architecture and 28nm production method.  Read more of this post

Sapphire EDGE-HD3 Mini PC – Mini PC, Third Try

Sapphire EDGE-HD3 Mini PCEven though some would say that it is a third generation , after the first two tries with Intel Atom + nVidia ION2 platform, Sapphire has finally decided for a bit more serious attempt and implemented AMD’s Fusion system in their third try. Conditioned by a bit steeper price, the first two models Edge HD and Edge HD2, cannot be said that were top sellers. Thanks to the help from nVidias’ graphic ION 2, the not so strong Atoms were able to play HD material, but the price was too high.  Read more of this post
