Apple iPad 7 Inch – Finally Diversity At The Corner

Apple iPad 7 InchApple has stuck to their concept of introducing the same tablet over and over just improving minor things and launching it as a newer model. Now there is news that they are trying to diversify their tablet market, introducing a 7 inch iPad. These are still roomers not officially backed up, but this kind of thing is accepted after the huge number of competitor tablets on the market. The main reason for this kind of move still is the tablet Kindle Fire from Amazon which in USA has made a big name for itself and is at the top of the sales market, overtaking the throne from the leader Apples iPad. Kinetik – Sharing apps with unease

Kinetik

Kinetik

With a plethora of iOS apps already out there, the creativity of individuals, who come up with unique app designs or those who simply take a simple concept and turn into a necessity, never ceases to amaze me.  Kinetik is an iOS app does a bit of both. It
takes the simple concept of recommendations, combines it with a global twitter platform to give the user a list of shares and recommendations based on what their twitter friends and buddies are using.

From a concept perspective I find this idea pure genius. I would definitely like to try out a music discovery app that Justin Timberlake recommends, similarly if David Pogue was to recommend an app for travel or anything else, I would download it in a jiff and even pay for it perhaps since I trust his reviews very much. This is however in concept only.

Implementation and reality is another matter entirely. Here I find Kinetik very much wanting. For starters, it uses a twitter id to log in and start using the app. This is no problem when I want to share and download apps that my twitter buddies are recommending. My own twitter friends list is very much limited where those who I follow is quite large. As I discovered to my dismay, that there is no one on it who is recommending i.e. it is limited only to those whom I follow and who follow me back.  For instance the celebrities I mentioned earlier are not present, so how am I to get the best cooking apps from a chef? Or a great app from a software designer? As per Kinetik, this is one of their selling points.

Kinetik does give a list of people to follow. They are however a bunch of names only with no tag line or description. Hence I have no idea whether their recommendation is worth it or not. My experience with this has been very limited and disheartening. The good thing is that Kinetik is available for free and I encourage those who have tried it, to add their comments to this review or simply download, try it out and let me know what you think of it.
