At the beginning of this year AMD has brought a graphic card chipset that brought the strongest competitor on their knees. The platform is called Tahiti XT and it is the fastest graphic-card ever built, but all that force comes with a big price. So as always according to AMD’s strategy; they start with the strongest followed by weaker and more affordable models. The strongest card was named- Radeon HD 7970 and the model that we are reviewing now is the referent basic card and it’s named- Radeon HD 7950 3GB GDDR5.
Implemented in this card is the chip Tahiti Pro which is the same chip as the Tahiti XT but with lowered number of functional units. Respectfully Radeon HD 7950 has 1792 stream processors and 112 texture units. Continue reading
