Clickable raises $12 million from American Express in series C

Clickable, an online advertising service provider, got a big boost of confidence from its biggest partner, American Express, which is leading a $12 million series C. Clickable has successfully cemented its position as a reliable and useful among small and middle-sized businesses.

The new funds will be used to expand Clickable’s marketing and sales, and the company will move aggressively towards social advertising market.

American Express is a major distribution partner for Clickable. It resells its ad management platform to small business customers.  Previous investors namely Union Square, Founders Fund and FirstMark are also participating in the funding event.

Before this funding, Clickable raised money three years back. Then, it closed at $14.5 million in series B funding.

Already, Clickable has a staff of about one hundred and sixty employees.

Clickable was founded in 2006 and is based in New York City. Its founders David S. Kidder and Munish Gandhi had founded SmartRay Network before creating Clickable. The company’s management team comes with a rich experience in world’s leading technology and media companies like Google, Microsoft, AOL, Netsuite etc.

Clickable’s novel and innovative advertising solution for small and mid-sized businesses have helped many business find success. It has been acknowledged for its outstanding performance by many institutions.

The company is all set to launch Clickable 3 early next year that will make search and will bring closer social marketing campaigns. This is in tune with the company’s focus on bridging in the gap between social and search.

Ushi, China’s equivalent of LinkedIn, raises $3 million

Ushi, a private social networking platform for professionals and entrepreneurs, has raised $3 million from Gerson Lehrman Group (GLG).

Ushi, pronounced ‘you-shi’, connects China’s businesses, professionals and entrepreneurs through their social networking platform. Think of LinkedIn as an equivalent. GLG has a network of more than 25,000 subject matter experts who engage in deal sourcing, research etc.

GLG has partnered with Ushi and acquired a minority stake in the social networking platform. The investment raises the total capital of Ushi to $4.5 million.

Earlier, other investors namely Milestone Capital’s founder partner Yunli Lou, Endeavor’s co-founder Peter Kellner and managing director of Li & Fung Jose Cheng invested in Ushi. They also participated in the second round of funding for the Shanghai-based service provider till date.

Ushi’s use base till now has touched 40,000 CEOs, 10,000 CTO exes and key individuals from over 85 per cent from China’s VC and PE firms.

Ushi is a private business targeted to make networking easy between  business and customers, partners, employees, experts, and enables the members of its social network to share and discuss information. The company is focused on helping people expand their reach in professionally.

Growing number of Internet users in China means more growth for highly competitive social networking websites like Ushi in the near future.

With the popularity of Ushi in China, they might just pose in a threat to similar social networking sites such as LinkedIn who focus their services to professionals from around the world.
