Goalbook is a secure platform for schools to manage and collaborate around student Individual Learning Plans (ILPs). Its goal is to help the educators to collaborate more efficiently, streamline communication, engage parents, and improve student agency through goal setting, which will in turn bring about a true individualized learning.
It aims to provide students a single, shared lesson plan. The basic premise is to have students a part of a connected network of educators, administrators, and parents by making a database of goals, strategies, and milestones.
At present, the Imagine K12 grad has raised a total of $915, 000 in seed funding. Their efforts have not gone unnoticed by its supported namely:
- NewSchools Venture Fund
- Rethink Education
- Greg Gunn – co-founder of Wireless Generation
- Steve Shulman – former Magellan Health CEO
- Patient Capital Collaborative
- Joe Gleberman – Facebook VP of Advertising and Global Operations
With this capital, Goalbook is planning to build a “Goal Bank,” or a repository of individual goals which will also be paralleled with Common Core State Standards. It will include assessments, instructional resources that is specifically designed for special education teachers.
It is a fact that Individual Education Plans are a vital part of achievement for Special Education. However, the problem is that these said plans are ignored or difficult to obtain by educators. So Goalbook solves this problem by keeping students on track with their IEDs.
Goalbook wants to help both educators and administrators to create profiles for students with special needs, and give them easy access to IEP summaries, more effective communication channels, less paper work, and higher compliance rates.
By bringing the utility and functionality of popular business and consumer tech products to learning, Goalbook hopes that it can make a great impact on special education and would help influence good student outcomes.
