Aviary is a collection of online tools designed to bring creativity to the cloud. The focus is mainly on graphic work which basically includes photo, vector, and palette editors, but an online audio editor is also available. What’s more is that each app has a unique look and feel.
Phoenix image editor is perhaps the best app. It features support for layers, special effects, masks, and a lot more! However, one flaw lies in its load timesIt actually takes a while to fully load even though you’re internet connection is just fine. But what it lacks in that area, makes up for the cool effects, filters, and other functions it offers.
The support layer is also interesting because of the integration between the individual components. The output of Phoenix can include layers created in the Raven vector editor and Peacock effects editor.
Peacock is something unique since it has to be experienced to be fully understood. This striking effects editor is also known as the Visual Laboratory. The way it functions is similar to Yahoo Pipes. Its different effects, filters and visual generators can be connected to a blank canvas, with the ability to manipulate the settings for individual tools and apply effects between different nodes to create unique results.
Another app is the Myna which is a multitrack audio editor. A large number of samples is provided, and are able to be dropped into a track. However, it is also possible to upload your own audio files. Uploads can be shared to the Aviary community by tagging, and then it can be used by others as samples.
Indeed the tools offered by Aviary are powerful and unique, minus all the complexities that other similar services offer. It is very easy to use and free. Editing has never been this convenient as before!
