Motorola has introduced their successor to the Droid 4 and it stands by its roots. This phone is one of the few left on the market that still has a full QWERTY keyboard. The keyboard was taken out of the design with the touch screen revolution and many manufacturers have discontinued its implementation, except few that are still keeping to their original design. The Photon Q is a great phone with great characteristic’s and for the ones that are still filing nostalgic for typing on a keyboard instead of a screen; this is the phone for them.
The phone has great specs, but as all it does have also some flaws. It has a great backlight keyboard, but it is not fully optimized with Android 4.0 operating system. The space between the keyboard and the front screen panel is a bit shaky and it is quite bulky, because of the keyboard. It has a 4.3 inch screen with an ok resolution of 540 x 960 and an additional color boost technology by Motorola that will provide a deeper color spectrum.
The phone is powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz processor and 1GB of working memory. It comes with a built in 8GB of internal memory and a microSD slot that can hold up to 32GB cards. The camera is an 8MP with LED flash and it’s not perfect, but it has a great response time and it can take up to 10 pictures in just a second that will look dissent in daylight. It comes with a 1.3MP front camera that can record a 720p video.
It has all the newest connection types on it including the NFC. The bad thing is that it comes with Android 4.0 not the newest version and its battery doesn’t last more than one day, even though Motorola has implemented some of their software, including the very popular Smart Actions that make your day much easier.
It is a great phone that will is available in USA by Sprint operator at a great price of $200 with a two year arrangement.
