HTC 8X – Is It Up For The Challenge

HTC 8XHTC is coming back strong on the market and now they are trying to overcome the market by introducing their new phones with Win8. To do this, they are introducing their line of Win8 phones and they have two representatives, one for the high-end market and another for the midrange. The HTC 8X- or Windows Phone 8X is their high-end response to Nokia’s Lumia 920. But is it good enough?

The phones’ design looks awesomely familiar, but with its own charm. It has a very slim bezel and the back of the uni-body is slightly curved, with curved edges on the sides. The back panel is made out of smooth high end plastic.

The screen is a 4.3 inch laminated Super LCD 2 (720p) screen covered with Gorilla Glass 2 protection and it will give out great viewing angles and crisp colors, even in broad daylight. The insides are a bit midrange, but enough to run the new Win8 operating system. It has a dual-core Snapdragon S4-1.5GHz processor, which on paper should be as good as a quad-core Android phone, but time will show its true power. It is accompanied with 1GB of internal storage and 16GB of working memory, but it doesn’t have a card slot.

From the connectivity aspect it has NFC, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, but it has a relatively old Bluetooth 2.1 standard. The audio is accompanied with the Beats audio chipset, so it should provide good smooth audio playback.  In the camera department it has a back 8MP wide angle camera with LED flash and a great F2.0 aperture. The front camera is something that we do not see all the time, it is a 2.1MP wide angle camera and it can also shoot a full HD movie.

This phone and its brother are coming out in November and then we will see their true power and how they handle with the competition.
