While the hybrid game is still heating up, some of the manufacturers are still looking for alternatives to this game. Dell, as one of them, has had their debut two years ago with their Dell Duo hybrid, but at that time it was really ahead of time and it vanished from the market soon after. Now, they are making a comeback of the same technology in a newer version and now it is the right moment. They introduced their new version of IFA and it is called Dell XPS Duo 12.
The main aspect of the Dell XPS Duo 12 is its swiveling screen. The 12 inch screen has Full HD characteristics, but its Dell’s concept of its rotation that makes the whole hybrid special. Inside the really thin bezel sits the screen, holding on side hinges, allowing it to rotate 180 degrees, thus enabling the laptop to be used as a touch sensitive tablet. The screen is also coated with Gorilla Glass, so it won’t get scratched. The keyboard is an isle type and it is put little lower than the rest and the touch pad has no physical buttons. The whole body is made in aluminum and carbon fiber and the bezel surrounding the screen is chromed, giving it an overall high quality feel.
They are still not sharing the details about the price tag and some specs about it, but it is known that it will work on Win8 platform and it will come in more variants and a choice between i5 and i7 processors, making it one of the strongest tablet hybrids on the market. In addition to this, on the strongest version with the i7 you will get massive 256GB SSD drive that will make this hybrid fly over the competition. The RAM quantity and GPU characteristics are still unknown.
