Huawei Ascend P1 – Big Caliber

Huawei Ascend P1The smart phone market has never been so interesting as 2012 and it will be a breaking point for a lot of the major competitors, bringing some to their knees and some at the top. The former leaders in the market namely Nokia and HTC are falling behind, while others like the Chinese Huawei are excelling with an unruly pace. Huawei is now called the “New Samsung” because of its rapid ascend.  With their newest model called Ascend P1, Huawei has put a gag on all those who were saying bad things about this company and didn’t realize the potential of a rising star.

It is an Android ICS phone of the upper middle class, which is packed in 7.69 mm housing with a dual-core processor running at 1.5GHz, the GPU is represented by PowerVR SGX540, as all the medium class models it has 1GB working memory and 4GB internal memory, accompanied with a microSD slot. The rest of the specs are not falling behind, starting with the Super AMOLED screen (540×960) pixels, 8MP camera, 5.1 Dolby sound and as expected a good price.  The screen has a great contrast and sharpness, as well as great viewing angles, but all of that goes away in daylight.

Ascend P1 is made out of good quality plastic and it fits the hand, even though it is a 4.3-inch phone, the side buttons are a bit flimsy. The camera is really quick and all the system operations are done quickly without any hesitations. It has the original Android ICS with few touches. It has a data encryption, enciphering call lists and messages, dedicated to a certain number.

When compared with the models from the other competitor manufacturers, the P1 ranks between Galaxy Nexus and HTC One S, phones that distinguish from the rest with a good price and capabilities rate.
