Suidobashi Heavy Industries has made an introduction that is something that has been a part of our imaginations and in our biggest fears. They made a Mech that weighs 4.4 tons named Kuratas. This project is something that has come from the imagination of many. There have been domes day movies, books and games that have all introduced the mech as something that is a logical step in humans’ robotization, but also as the ultimate war machine and ultimate worker.
The Kuratas is a mobile suit that was firlstly designed by Kogoro Kurata with a corporation with Watary Yoshizaki who is a robotics expert. Watary was designing the robot frame which also has housing for a pilot-operator. The mech has a UI that is made just for it and works via a built in touch screen that bases the gestures on a Kinect – movement interface. The mech is a 13 foot high robot mounted on four legs ending with wheels and the basis can be brought up or down depending on the need. It has a maximum speed of 10 mph and it works on a diesel powered motor. The mech arms are adjustable and have more than few modifications that can be implemented. It can have fingers, claws and even guns as hands. Its firing mechanism is “smile activated”. It has twin BB gatling guns on the left arm. The cockpit is fully equipped with all the necessary hardware you can even call your enemies from it and tell them you are coming.
The price tag for this little big monster is $1.35 million dollars and for something extra you can modify it according to your needs, changing the motor and overall color. As additional customizations available you have a choice of putting a phone cubby, a cup holder or faux leather interior.
