Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 – A Wrong Turn

Samsung Galaxy TabIf we look back in the Honeycomb era (in the time of the first real Android tablets) Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 was at the top. A lot was expected from its successor, so lets see what it has to offer.

The overall look when comparing to its predecessor didn’t change much. Around the screen black is the dominant color, with an addition of some grey, which covers the back side. Left and right of the screen you can see small grills that are hiding the speakers and on which you should look out for not to cover. The new 10.1 inch Tab is a bit thicker and weighs more than the predecessor, but you wont mind because it is still one of the lightest Android tablets. Samsung didn’t put any metal in this edition also, keeping it all in plastic.

Similarly to the design the hardware didn’t change a lot, which we find very odd. Asus has implemented Tegra in their new Transformers, iPad except for the retina display it had a bust in performances, so Samsung not giving their most sold tablet a good boost seems a bit odd. They switched Tegra 2 with a TI processor working on 1GHz paired with 1GB RAM and 16GB storage space. Even though this platform is good enough for playing games, we should mention that on a benchmark this version is slower than its predecessor. The screen has remained the same, it is a 10.1 IPS screen with a resolution of 1280x 800 pixels. Its rear 3.2 MPx camera cannot show off with the quality of the taken photographs. One of the brightest points of this tablet is its 7000mAh battery that can last up to 8 hours of uninterrupted multimedia playing.

Ice Cream Sandwich that works on this tablet has been enriched with Samsung’s TouchWiz UX interface, bringing a bit of a changed look.

When we see this edition and the last one we can see that there is not a big difference, concluding that Samsung decided not to go for the top but to provide the regular user a great tablet for the money.

As of my understanding, they are mentioning or following an unique name which is “posted by tunebloggers” since they are posting unique review. Thanks.
