Samsung S27B970 – A Toy For Grown Man

Samsung S27B970Many people were complaining about the need to expand the resolution of the big screens that are exceeding 23 inches. That time has come and that revolution has its leader. The revolutionary comes from Samsung with not so appealing name- S27B970. Behind this name we can decipher that we are talking about a 27 inch screen and that is it. But, what the name doesn’t say is that this screen has some secrets hidden behind this not so inventive name.

Firstly it works on a new kind of panel called PLS (Plane to Line Switching), which should provide a lower price than IPS panels and still keep the same characteristics.  Also PLS is a competition to LG’s well known eIPS matrix. Except for the new panel, this screen has a raised resolution of 2560×1440 pixels, with a response time of 5ms and wide viewing angles of 178 degrees in both axes. Impressive on paper and the practice often knows to disappoint, but this time that is not the case.

The design of this screen is nearing perfection. It captivates every one that glances it with its design which is called (floating in mid-air) that gives the illusion of a big screen floating in the air. It is made out of unified materials and black and gray colors. Its base is circular and holds all the buttons necessary and in addition it holds vast array of connections starting from HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort, headphone connector and even a MHL (Mobile High Definition Link). It also has a USB Hub.

This screen is a part of Samsung’s 9 series, which makes the top of the line screens and this screen has the quality to prove it. With some fine tuning of the screen it can satisfy any user, providing full vibrant colors and high response time. The only bad thing is that it is really glossy. Those are the selling points of this screen that we think is worth every penny that you need to pay for it and that is more than few pennies, because it costs over $1000.
