Arnova 7 G2 – A Tablet For Cheap Change

Arnova 7 G2The French company Archos is known for making cheap but high quality tablets. The previous year they put on the market their tablet named Arnova and this year they refreshed their offer with the new and improved version named Arnova 7 G2.

This model has the same design as its predecessor, which means that except for an interesting design it also has plastic back cover that very nicely imitates a brushed aluminum cover. Every serious multimedia consumer knows how difficult it is to have something for munching in their hand and at the same time hold on to the player. So Arnova has sovled this problem with their back stand implemented on the back. It would have been better if this back stand was firmer, rather than wobbly, also to have a bigger angle of discent and to be at the middle of the device instead of being at the side. The estetics of this device is a bit disturbed by its overall depth that is 12mm, but at least it looks more robust than the competition. The software has changed all the physical buttons so except for the star button the rest are software. The micro USB can be used with an attachement called OTG adapter and can hold a usb stick or a 3G modem.

A microSD card is a must because the tablet itself only has 4GB inside. It has a Cortex A8 chip that works on 1GHz and it is quite worse than the newer model the Cortex A9 , but it holds up with the software. It has 512MB RAM that is good enough for the Gingerbread version that it runs on. It also has a graphics chip that is codenamed Vivante GC800 but it gives out about 50% worse performances than the PowerVR SGX540 .

When it comes to multimedia it can decode H.264 compressed video with a full 1080p resolution.

This little one is sold with a price lower than 200€ and it its field it doesn’t have any competition.
