Alienware has always brought the best of the best packed in something that can only be called greatness. They always could find what is top of the line and put it in their machines, making every gamer drawl for one of their masterpieces. This time they have done the same in their fourth iteration of their gaming 17 inch laptop.

Conveniently called M17x R4, R4 standing for its fourth revision, it is simply put a monster that can eat you up. This laptop has the same outlooks as the previous revision, so externally nothing has changed, but when you open the lid you will see an alien head for a starting button and when you turn it on magic happens. The keyboard as always is great and it can change colors, also the touch pad is has a side lining that can be preset to glow as you want and to top it all the alien head on the back of the lid can also be set to shine any color of your choosing.

But this is only makeup, so let’s see what is inside. Starting off with its processor, the most expensive version that we are reviewing has an Intel i7 3720QM processor that runs on 2.6GHz, it is packed with 8GB of RAM and a 500GB 7200 RPM hard drive, accompanied with 32GB mSATA SSD dedicated for your operating system. So far nothing special that we haven’t seen, but when you hear that it has nVidia’s latest and fastest GPU on the market the GeForce 680M with 2GB of VRAM, you will know that it is the bomb.  This laptop has gotten the highest scores when compared with all the other high end laptops.

Its screen is an amazing full HD wide angle glossy screen, with great brightness. It comes packed with a bunch of ports that will satisfy everyone. Starting with four USB3.0 ports, HDMI in and HDMI out, VGA, eSATA/USB 2.0 port, a Display Port, a Gigabit Ethernet port, secure lock slot, jacks for a headphone, a microphone, S/PDIF jack and  a combination headphone/microphone and a Blu-ray reader tray.

The price of this laptop shouldn’t surprise anyone and for many because of it, it will only stay a dream machine with its top price going up to $2.599. There are other versions that go much lower, but don’t expect the same ranking as this top of the line version.
