It’s not a fresh news to inform you all about a Facebook smartphone- we’ve seen quite some devices with implemented dedicated Facebook key, but this time, we’re discussing about a Facebook’s own device.

The last news comes from “The New York Times”, which says that Facebook as a company plans to launch their first own smartphone. The well known Facebook phones are developed by companies like HTC, Alcatel, Motorola- HTC Cha Cha and Salsa, Alcatel OT- 916, Motorola Motokey Social etc.

There was an attempt by HTC  to develop a mobile phone, codenamed “Buffy”, which was supposed to be an actual Facebook smartphone, but only the HTC- branded Cha Cha and Salsa, saw the light of the day.

Namely, it was said that the “Buffy” project is not completely abandoned, but Mark Zuckerberg wanted to develop a genuine Facebook smartphone. This move should be source of a revenue and couldn’t end on just an application. The speculations say that this phone might run on a adapted version of Android OS, or, as some other sources say- that they will develop their own OS.

Also, there’s an information that this phone should have its own Application Store- Facebook Store, instead of Google Play. This would prevent, or restrict the users to install other kind of social applications like Twitter, Google+, Pinterest etc.

As reported from some of the employees at Facebook, there was a team of designers and engineers involved in the project, who were previously working for Apple and other companies. There are negotiations with a number of manufacturers, mobile network providers for this project.

The comments by bloggers, or readers, on the online polls, regarding this idea are not very positive. There are many negative critics about the Facebook smartphone application, especially for the Android version, so at the end, we’ll see what will actually happen.
