A site like Sourcemap is definitely a service that all responsible companies will feel attracted to, since they have nothing to hide. It also highlights the effort they make to show everyone that their products are of high quality. Currently, there are hundreds of maps that have already been created for clothing, furniture, electronics, food, and more.

So basically it operate through a website that allows just about anyone to share information about how things are made, origin and location of factories and farms, photos or videos of the manufacturing process, and even the cost and carbon footprints incurred.

To make a Sourcemap, click the “Create” button at the top right of the page and enter the map’s title with a short description, user- defined tags, and the category. Then, select if you want your map to be made public or private and you’re ready to go. However, this feature is only available for Pro Account users.

In a nutshell, Sourcemap makes everything simpler for use to know which companies are doing the right thing or not. It pinpoints the ones who do not cut corners just to get their product ready and shipped faster. And eventually, it may connect all the consumers with the producers behind the product and soon we’ll be all well- informed about the choices we make and make a great impact to the larger society and the environment.
