eRecyclingCorps, a company that helps carriers and distributors use wireless recycling, has raised $35 million in financing led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.

The company, founded in 2009, works with retailers and distributors like Verizon and Sprint to turn e-waste into an asset. It runs incentivized wireless device trade-in and recycling programs that are powered by instant in-store credit solution and online platform.

Seeing the growth of e-waste like cell phones and other wireless devices, eRecyclingCorps job will only increase in the future. Out of over 30 million cell phones replaced every year in the U.S., only 10% are recycled. When consumers upgrade for newer products, the old products are tossed into the dustbin or waste away in a drawer. This e-waste will ultimately end up in landfills than being recycled or reused.

eRecyclingCorps believes that by transforming the wireless device ecosystem into an opportunity for reward, renewal and reuse, they are not only benefitting the environment, but also creating an economic opportunity that brings rewards for everyone who participates.

The company recognize the value of e-products, offer incentives for exchange or trade and establish a global after-market to support the reuse of wireless phones.

eRecyclingCorps helps in reducing wireless e-waste by having companies reward their customers at the time of sale for trading their used devices. Their leading-edge technology enables high-volume, low-cost collection, processing and redistribution of reusable wireless devices all around the world.

The solutions of eRecyclingCorps are customizable and can support large-scale operations.

eRecyclingCorps is co-founded by David Edmondson and Ron LeMay.
