ZINK is a revolutionary full-colour printing system that works without ink cartridges or ribbons. The name behind ZINK Technology and ZINK Papers has raised $35 million in Series B funding. The financing round was led by Genii Capital.

On the occasion, the company also announced that former board members namely Mary Jeffries and Ira Prakash will be holding new responsibilities of Chairman and co-CEO, and President and co-CEO respectively.

ZINK that stands for Zero Ink invented the radical technology that excludes cartridges and ribbons, and replaces it with an all-colour printing that requires just ZINK Paper for printing an image or a text. Color is embedded in the ZINK Paper itself. It sounds terrific.

ZINK Paper looks like a regular printing papers before printing. The heat from ZINK printer activates the colour-forming substances in the paper, and you get a perfect photograph or a coloured text without the fuss of refilling cartridges or using ribbons!

This technology is based on the advances in physics, image science, chemistry, manufacturing and engineering. The Development of ZINK has made the company seek over 180 patents and patents pending supporting the technology. Next generation R&D continues in ZINK labs everyday.

According to ZINK, their heritage of cutting edge research and innovation runs deep, with its roots stemming from the visionary, Dr. Land and Polaroid Corporation. ZINK’s Imaging’s research and development labs and headquarters are located in Massachusetts. Their development and manufacturing facility is located in Whitsett, North Carolina.

Don’t you think it is time to get started on ink-free printing for home and business needs?

in my opinion, i think it's great that some companies are moving forward with technological ideas. i wish that all the companies would do that, instead of creating a product and sticking with it for 30 years. the iphone by apple, for example, was a huge leap in mobile development, as is this product for zink.
