AppBoy, a platform for developers to expand, engage and understand their user base, has raised $1 million in seed funding.

The major investor was Blumberg Capital with participation from Accelerator Ventures, T5 Capital, Metamorphic Ventures and Bullpen Capital.

The funding has been used to expand their team to seven. Bill Magnuson and Jon Hyman, two new technical co-founders who were the winners of 2011 NYC Disrupt Hackathon for Gilt-ii, have also found new space at AppBoy. The funding is also used to get AppBoy into beta. Earlier, it was purely iOS. According to reports, Android integration might also be on the list. AppBoy is looking all set to floor the accelerator.

For app developers, AppBoy allows profile creation by users, use of badges and checkin, cross-promotion, and interaction with users. Through AppBoy, you can send updates of your product to users through news and alerts.

For game apps, you have the tool to enable status levels and badges that are used as rewards and encouragement. You can also have a feedback form for users. Their feedback is essential in knowing the strengths and weaknesses of your app so that you can improve it and learn from earlier mistakes. Developers can easily track all the user activity from AppBoy’s developer dashboard.

AppBoy’s interactive dashboard gives you access to your analytics, CRM tolls and the ability to manage the features that come with AppBoy’s SDK.

Through CRM, you get targeted outreach, view rich user profiles, view feedback, and bug reports and questions. Through analytics, you get to investigate your apps usage and track sharing.

It is an exciting time for the team at AppBoy with the seed funding of $1 million to be put into the growth and success of their solution, AppBoy.
